We decided to go hiking one fine summer weekend day, and so Chris scoured our hiking books and decided on the Oak Island Loop trail on Sauvie Island. We packed up, drove there and then afterward realized that we were supposed to have a parking permit at the trail head for our car (which you can buy at the little store on the island right after you go over the bridge). We didn't know that at the time, so we just decided to hike fast and hope to not get a ticket! It is really a pretty hike; a large circle trail that leads through open wooded areas and large fields. It also drops down near the lake/bay area where we saw small fish (fun for Finn). We would suggest not only sun screen, but bug repellent though, as there were quite a few mosquitoes.
Finn was a good hiker, but also spent a bit of time getting the good view, while urging Chris to "go faster!" He loved it when Chris jogged with him up there.
Time to head home! We were going to stop and eat on the way home but Finn fell asleep before we even hit the bridge off the island. Hiking is exhausting when you're two!
