This is the Day that the Lord has Made! (And we celebrate His birth!)

Christmas finally arrived! Christmas eve was really nice at Tanya's mom's house where we ate stew with cheesy mashed potatoes (thank you Rachel Ray) and pumpkin bread pudding for dessert (thank you The Oregonian). Yum! We also visited with Finn's great grandparents, uncle Kenny (who showed up late due to his date with the fresh powder on Mt. Hood), and Amber who joined for laughs! Then off to church to hear a beautiful retelling of the Christmas story with hymns sang at coordinating moments with the story. Chris, Finn, Amber and I ended up sitting in the foyer because it was so packed, but hey, we at least had seats!

Christmas Day was just the little fam....we got up a little late and opened presents. Chris and I got each other small but nice gifts (yeah...the house kinda cut into our budget a bit this year :) ), and Finn got lots of great outfits and some toys! Thanks to everyone who blessed us with our lovely gifts...I promise hand written thank you cards at some point hopefully soon!

We did even get a white Christmas this year...apparently hasn't happened in our area for about twenty years! I remember a little snow one Christmas as a child, but what a treat for Finn's first Christmas! It did melt this year by the evening, but for a while there were big fluffy flakes drifting down everywhere.

On a slightly different note, we had to post a funny thing that Chris's sister Joanna noticed when visiting....

Is it the same as seeing the Virgin Mary on a piece of toast? :)
